A List of Palm Oil Free Products in Dischem

Here's what I learnt:

1. It's really, really boring.

2. There is so. much. palm. oil.

3. The most common names for palm oil products is Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulphate, Glyceryl Stearate, and Stearic Acid. There was the occasional palmitate or hydrated palm glycerides, but those were the main ones.

4. The first three people to ask if you need help will be very confused when you say you're just reading labels, but after a while they'll leave you alone.

5. There is not one product without some form of either palm oil and/or fossil fuel based ingredient in it.

6. Everything is a lot less organic than it claims to be.

7. Most toners don't have palm oil

8. Most creamy lotiony type things do have palm oil

As you can see, it's actually very difficult to avoid palm oil because it's in almost everything. That's why my suggestion is to look where on the ingredients list it is. Ingredients are listed in order of predominance, with the most predominant first and the least predominant last. Buy products with palm oil listed in the middle/end of the list to reduce the amount you use and thus reduce the demand for it and preserve some rain forests!
